A Consistent Test for Misspeciication in Polychotomous Response Models
نویسندگان
چکیده
We propose a test for misspeciication in polychotomous response models such as the conditional or the multinomial logit model. The test is based on comparing (a smoothed version of) the link functions of the parametric polychotomous model under consideration with a nonparametric estimate. If the parametric model is correct the nonparametric estimates should diier from (the smooth of) the hypothesized links only by random sampling error. If however the parametric model is misspeciied then systematic diierences should arise. We derive the asymptotic distribution of the test statistic under the null hypothesis, show that it is consistent against semiparametric alternatives and investigate its local power properties. A small Monte Carlo study investigates the nite sample performance of the test. I am greatly indebted to Joel Horowitz for many helpful suggestions and disussions. Helpful comments were also made

The Analysis of Bayesian Probit Regression of Binary and Polychotomous Response Data
The goal of this study is to introduce a statistical method regarding the analysis of specific latent data for regression analysis of the discrete data and to build a relation between a probit regression model (related to the discrete response) and normal linear regression model (related to the latent data of continuous response). This method provides precise inferences on binary and multinomia...
متن کاملSemiparametric EM-estimation of censored linear regressionmodels for durations
This paper investigates the sensitivity of maximum quasi likelihood estimators of the covariate eeects in duration models in the presence of misspeciication due to neglected heterogeneity or misspeciication of the hazard function. We consider linear models for r (T) where T is duration and r is a known, strictly increasing function. This class of models is also referred to as location-scale mod...

Model-based clinical trial designs have drawn much attention from the biostatistical community since 1990 when O’Quigley et al. proposed the Continual Reassessment Method (CRM). CRM and its various modified versions have achieved great successes in finding the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) adaptively in the case of dichotomous toxicity responses (i.e. dose-limiting toxicity, DLT, or non-DLT). In...
متن کاملRainfall effect on single-vehicle crash severities using polychotomous response models.
As part of the Wisconsin road weather safety initiative, the objective of this study is to assess the effects of rainfall on the severity of single-vehicle crashes on Wisconsin interstate highways utilizing polychotomous response models. Weather-related factors considered in this study include estimated rainfall intensity for 15 min prior to a crash occurrence, water film depth, temperature, wi...
متن کاملMaximum Likelihood and Semiparametric Estimation in Logistic Models with Incomplete Covariate Data
Maximum likelihood estimation of regression parameters with incomplete covariate information usually requires a distributional assumption about the concerned covariates which implies a source of misspeciication. Semiparametric procedures avoid such assumptions at the expense of eeciency. A simulation study is carried out to get an idea of the performance of the maximum likelihood estima-tor und...
